“At times, attorneys can be the reason why a good transaction is not completed — inserting their personalities, identifying problems without offering solutions, and generally getting in the way of the transaction. It should not be that way. Attorneys should be facilitators, representatives, evaluators, counselors and advisors. That is how we get the job done. We are deal MAKERS, not deal breakers.” Evelyn C. Ufomadu At a time when specialization is defining the quality of the legal profession, Evelyn is no exception. Referring to herself as a “hybrid attorney,” she is both a litigator and a deal maker. She can, with equal proficiency, try a case to its final verdict, or quarterback a complex transaction to its final signature…and she is not afraid to do either. After graduating from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2013, Evelyn worked as a Judicial Staff Attorney/Judicial Clerk. Soon after she started her own practice delivering quality counsel and representation to individuals, families, and businesses by providing Of Counsel services to multiple national law firms reviewing consumer and business loan agreements, advising on compliance with the FCRA with regard to loan agreements and collection practices, engaging in litigation regarding outstanding debts, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws (including, but not limited to, the FDCPA and FCRA), commencing litigation pursuant to the FDCPA and FCRA by challenging credit reporting agencies and furnishers for inaccurate reporting, and working with opposing counsel and defendants to resolve disputes and negotiate settlement agreements. When conducting a transaction, Evelyn likes to “read the last page of the book first” to visualize ahead of time the desired end result. With this vision firmly in her head, she can then help her clients focus on the big picture — to understand what their overall goal is — and to not get bogged down in minutiae that could hurt them in the long run. Evelyn considers herself not just as lawyer, but a strategic advisor as well. Clients can rely on her for the kind of unfiltered advice they might not otherwise get.
When Evelyn is not practicing law, she enjoys working out, traveling, spending time with her family and being the #1 cheerleader for her son’s games. She is also a lover of fashion, which is evident in the fact that she is a prominent fashion blogger, personal stylist and image consultant.
